Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach This is a very short book about a seagull named Jonathan who broke through the confines of his flock and completely dedicated himself to the task of learning to fly. This is not flying in the conventional sense, but flying faster, higher, and better than any gull had ever flown before. After being banished from his flock because of what was considered outrageous behavior Jonathan ascended to a higher place where he learned to understand flying and how it is the means to kindness and love and the only way to become free. Jonathan returned to his flock and helped teach others the importance of flying as a means other than for obtaining food. This book is a great story about dedication to a dream even in the face of opposition that results in the ultimate reward.
