When should I arrive at Inward Bound?
Registration for Inward Bound is on Sunday morning from 8:00am until 9:30am on the first floor of the Talley Student Center at NC State, the home of the conference. Bagels, coffee, and juice will be provided.
What if I am going to arrive late to the conference, how will I register?
Late registration is available on Sunday from 11:30am-12:00pm and 6:00pm-6:30pm on the first floor of the Talley Student Center at NC State. Please do your best not to arrive late as the keynote address is an important part of framing the conference. If you are arriving on Monday, please contact Kavita Kapur at Kavita@SelfKnowledge.org for special registration arrangements.
If I arrive late on Sunday, will transportation be provided to the conference?
Unfortunately not. The last Sunday bus will leave from the Brownstone hotel at 10:45am. If this presents a problem, please contact Kavita Kapur at Kavita@SelfKnowledge.org.
I am staying at either the Brownstone Hotel or the Velvet Cloak Inn, how do I get to and from the conference?
Transportation will be provided to and from the Brownstone hotel each morning and evening. The Velvet Cloak is a two minute walk from the Brownstone. Sunday morning transportation begins at 7:45am from the Brownstone and will run in 15 minute intervals until 10:45. You will receive Monday and Tuesday transportation times upon arrival at the conference.
Are meals included with the registration fee?
Yes. You will receive a name badge at registration which will serve as your pass for all meals.
What do I need to bring to Inward Bound?
An open mind. Some of your favorite inspirational readings. Your journal if you have one. Any musical instruments that you like to play. (We're gonna jam!) And, of course—what the heck—bring your Inward Bound Pre-Conference Packet if you got one! (Especially the "Cup of Trembling" article.)
What is the weather going to be like?
Daytime temperature in October is usually around 60 degrees during the day and in the low 50s to upper 40s at night. There will be one event on Monday night that is outdoors, and the rest of the conference is indoors. Wear comfortable clothes, as dress during the entire conference is casual.
If I am driving where do I go to park on campus?
Directions to the Talley Student Center are included in this packet. Upon arrival, please park in front of the student center. When you register, ask for a parking permit and the person registering you will direct you to the conference parking lot. Parking permits are $1/day.
I have not yet booked a hotel room. What are my lodging options?
The Brownstone Hotel (1707 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh)
- Unfortunately block room prices are no longer available. Single and double rooms are available at for $99/night plus tax, call 919/828-0811 for reservations. Check in is at 3pm and check out is at noon.
- Transportation to and from RDU airport is available by calling 919/828-0811 once you have arrived. Transportation is only available from 8am to 10pm and will take approximately 20 minutes.
The Velvet Cloak Inn (1505 Hillsborough Street, Raleigh)
- Single rooms are available for $99/night plus tax and a doubles are available for $109/night plus tax, call 800/334-4372 for reservations. Check in is at 3pm and check out is at noon.
