Avila, Summer 2001
SKS Members and Officers Plan and Learn

Here we come, walking down the street... The big SKS Avila retreat happens in the fall. But in the summer of 2001, we held a smaller retreat where we planned strategy for the next few years. We also spent an afternoon taking comedy improv lessons from Greg Hohn, artistic director of the award-winning Transactors Improv Company. He told us that in order to do improv, we had to let go, to be willing to put our faith in absolutely nothing. Isn't it amazing how everything becomes spiritual when you look at it hard enough?

Unlike the big retreat, this mini-retreat was open only to SKS officers and members.

And Aidan. Aidan Buehler is the son of long-time SKS members Georg and Janet Buehler, and he added his own special flavor to the whole retreat. In this picture, he is seen with his Godfather, SKS founder Augie Turak.

We also did spend a lot of time planning strategy, honestly. It was a great time, and whetted all our appetites for the big retreat coming this fall!
